Effectively Managing Your Body’s Reaction

Whether you suffer from allergies year-round or just seasonally, Dr. Freedman can identify the underlying cause of your symptoms and develop a comprehensive plan to effectively manage or treat your allergies. Dr. Freedman understands how frustrating it is to be perpetually faced with allergy symptoms which often take much of the enjoyment out of life. We promise you that, no matter what type of allergy you suffer from, we will diligently work to formulate a solution that provides you with relief and improves your overall health.

  • Allergies develop when a person does not have the necessary immunity (antibodies) to handle exposure to certain types of pollen that are in our environment. Most exposures are generally harmless to the health of your body but when a person has allergies, their body will trigger the release of certain chemicals. The most common chemical that is released is histamine, which creates the symptoms of allergy. The most common allergens are dust, mold, and pollen from trees, grasses and weeds such as ragweed, which is commonly referred to as hay fever. People can also have allergies or sensitivities to foods and certain medications.

  • You may suffer from allergies if you experience the following symptoms:

    • Runny nose

    • Stuffy nose

    • Sneezing

    • Itching eyes, nose, and throat

    • Watery, swollen eyes

    • Nausea

    • Frequent nosebleeds

    • Frequent sinus infections

    • Snoring

    • Itchy skin

    • Rashes

    • Hives

    • Difficulty breathing

    • Fatigue or exhaustion

Depending on the type of allergy you have, you are more likely to develop symptoms within a specific area of your body. Environmental allergies are most likely to cause upper respiratory symptoms, while food allergies are more likely to cause abdominal symptoms such as upset stomach, bloating, and constipation or diarrhea.

  • Of course, every case of allergies is unique, so it is important to seek help from an experienced, qualified specialist who has a proven track record of safely providing relief to patients no matter how complex their cases. At Freedman ENT, our team does just that. With your best interests in mind, our physicians and sub-specialists will determine how severe your allergies are, which most commonly are environmental irritants, and provide you with relief that continues to last over time. Once allergy testing, skin testing, and blood tests have been performed and a treatment plan has been configured by one of the allergy specialists, you will begin your journey toward relief. The treatments that we offer include medications such as antihistamines, corticosteroids, decongestants, allergy shots, and desensitization. Program desensitization can be customized to your specific needs and the composition of your individual immune system. All of our treatments are designed by our team, in-office, to accurately take into account all aspects of your health.
